We were all quite worried last summer when NetObjects went out of business. No one knew
what was going to happen to Fusion. It seemed impossible that such a great product would
just die - it is by far the best tool for quickly developing great websites.
We all felt strongly that there would be one company out there who would appreciate the value and aquire the rights
to the software. But, no one knew for sure.
Now, months later, the smoke has cleared and Fusion is still alive and kicking! Early next
month, Website Pros, the new owner of the Fusion code, will be releasing a new version of the
product. The added features and functionality of the version 7.0 are quite exciting. But
even more exciting is that there is promise of versions 8.0, 9.0, and 10.0!
coolmaps.com, a partner with NetObjects, continues to be a partner with Website Pros.
This week, Website Pros has asked us to help spread the word about certain features of Fusion 7 -
we are happy to oblige.

Website Pros has released more information on the new version of Fusion. Here is what they are telling us:
- Photo Gallery Builder is a simple solution for posting digital images
on your Web site. The Gallery creates thumbnails and links them to bigger sized
versions of the pictures. You can choose from a variety of custom-designed frames, and
you can add unique titles and descriptions to each image. Arrows from the image
page allow users to scroll through all of the images or to return to the thumbnail page.
- Integrated Global Spell Checker and Search and Replace Tools does just
what the title says allowing you to streamline the development of your Web site.
- Enhanced Link Tools lets you easily create pop-up windows and targeted
links.
- PayPal Component simplifies the e-commerce function. You can accept
credit card transactions instantly, and you can use the integrated shopping
cart service from PayPal.
- Mini-Site Navigation Palette gives you instant access to each page on
your site.
- The new Online View (formerly the Services View) gives you additional
services, components, and graphics as well as round-the-clock access to the
NetObjects support community.
- New SiteStyles including pixel-level offset of text on images gives
you greater control over the look and feel of the banners and buttons on
your site.
Previously mentioned Features:
- Single and multi-page templates.
- The ability to zip template so that they can be sent easily to others (including to CCC to resolve support issues).
- Navigation bars that can be customized to show multiple levels of the Web site.
- Multimedia support for Flash MX and Windows Media Player.
- Improved compatibility with Windows XP and Microsoft Office.
- Improved support for Section 508 compliance for accessibility.
There are other cool new things about version 7.0 that we CANNOT divulge. The marketing gurus at WSP have
opted for a tease campaign where they will slowly disseminate the information to users up until launch date. Who are
we to argue with marketing gurus??? Such being the case, we will keep you up-to-date as they allow it.
