There are a number of services available to web developers for gaining
revenue from their web-traffic. Revenue can be achieved when a visitor:
clicks an ad/link and then purchases
Amazonia
is a popular CCC components to facilitate affliate linking from Amazon.com. Amazonia helps you place links
on your site that make you money when someone clicks and buys.
As you are all aware, it has become a little tougher to make a buck advertising
the Internet these days. But, recently we have found a company called
Fastclick who is offering very attractive advertising revenue programs that
are both lucrative and easy to implement.
Fastclick is run by some super-smart folks in Goleta, CA (which the next
town up the freeway from coolmaps.com's offices in Santa Barbara). They
have developed a streamlined process of putting up advertisements on the
Internet. Their advertisements are fast, and their on-line administration
is easy. What's cool is that they have been able to achieve this high
level-of-service while keeping their overhead low. Doing everything better
and cheaper than their competition enables them to pay higher affiliate
commission rates AND to make a profit for themselves
(read-between-the-lines: they will definitely be in business next year).
Straight-forward contracts
All contracts with Fastclick are non-exclusive and advertising is a
mixture of both pay-per-impression (cpm) and pay-per-click (cpc). As a member,
you earn 65% of the gross revenue for the ads. This percentage is notably
higher than most other programs which generally offer only a 50% cut.
Actual rates which are charged to advertisers are displayed prominently on
the Fastclick site and can be used to gauge potential earnings.
In order for your site to be eligible for the Fastclick program it must
receive a minimum of 100 page views each day and not contain any illegal or
offensive content. People at Fastclick (not spiders) review each site individually.
Sites that host or offer free web pages or hosting are not permitted.
Unusually, sites with some non-English content are allowed.
However, all advertisements for Fastclick must be displayed on pages
containing solely English content.
Two ways to display advertisements
They offer banner advertising and pop-ups. Pop-up are cool because they
do not interfere with your site design. They show up as hidden windows
behind the main browser. Many popular websites like Yahoo! and Schwab
deploy these ads. Pop-ups are all paid on a CPM basis (it doesn't matter if
the user clicks, you still get paid).
Traditional banner ads can be displayed as well. The size of their
banners is 468 x 60 and must be displayed above the main fold. Some banners
are CPM and some are CPC (you only get paid when they click). Through the
administration screen, you can choose which banners and pop-ups to use.
Payment
Real time statistics are provided for webmasters and contain details on
total impressions, click-throughs and earnings, broken down by ad campaigns.
Earnings are paid monthly once a minimum of $50.00 has been earned.
Fastclick members can choose to receive their earnings via check or
PayPal.
