A
BUSINESS LOGO THAT JUMPS! (con't)
If
you're like The KROW, you're staring at a big white "sheet
of paper" in your PSP, and your creative thoughts are as blank
as the sheet!
And,
not like the business world would ever put any pressure on
you, but......Mr. I. M. Bigexec just called you and wants
a new logo for his company's web site (Mr. Bigexec just happens
to be the owner, president, and charter member-thereof for
the well-known "Rentem Bigexecs Ltd., Inc., Corp." and soon
to be ".com" company. A very prestigious company, which will
look great on your clientele list.....if you can just fill
his order. He specifically requested a simple logo of his
company name (Rentem Bigexecs) and he wants it in blue (reminds
him of his dog's bandana). Other than that, he said he doesn't
care what you come up with as long as it's clean, sharp, and
has a "corporate image!"
Ok,
so remembering that Mr. Bigexec wants to see his "name in
lights", let's get his create a logo created!
In
PSP, click the text button.
Move
the cursor over the paper (cursor will change to a cross-hairs)
and click anywhere on the page. A pop-up window for all the
choices of text comes up. In the text area, type in "Rentem
Bigexecs" and then highlight it.
Click
on the "Text Effects" color box (seen in the yellow circle
below). Your cursor changes to the Dropper, and the color
chart pops up for you to choose what color you want (The KROW
chose a medium blue). Click ok to "get" the blue and the Text
box appears again. Choose a text style and size (again, The
KROW chose Arial font, and at 22 pts. Also check the "Floating"
and "Antialias" buttons.

When finished, click "OK". You should have the blue text on
your page with the "ants" (selection) moving around the letters.

Now,
let's make our image flexible. Cut your text and then click
"Edit", then "Paste", then "As New Layer". CONGRATULATIONS!
You just made your first LAYER! Notice in the Layer Palette
you now have two layers. One says, "Layer 1, and the other
is "Background". Layers provide an easy way to work with different
aspects of an image without manipulating any other parts.
Want to test it out? Try this:
In
PSP, click on "Background" in the Layer Palette. Use the Dropper
to pick whatever color you want from the Color Chart (see
below). Pick a color other than blue so you can see a difference.
Now, use the PaintBrush to paint anywhere you want on the
image!

Once
you've painted on the Background, look back at the Layer Palette.
Next to the Background Layer, you'll see the glasses. Click
on the glasses, and watch your newly painted Background "hide"
out of site, but your text stayed in place, untouched and
unchanged! How cool is that?!
