KROW PSP QuickNav :

Meet Your Match

Starting at the top left of the image, click and drag a rectangle all the way across(20 pixels) and down 40 pixels. Next flood fill the selected area. (Choose a light blue).

Now let's make this newly filled area match our logo we made! From the menu, choose "Image", then "Effects" and then "Sculpture. Your PSP should still have all the settings the same from the logo. If not, don't worry. You can get them here.

You should probably have something like this:

Now, with the newly sculptured area still selected, add a drop shadow with these settings:

  • Opacity: 80
  • Blur: 7.3
  • Offset-Vertical: 4
  • Offset-Horizontal: 0

You might be wondering why Offset Horizontal is "0". This is so you can further manipulate the drop shadow and give it a smoother, solid appearance. If you leave it as it is, the drop shadow will be "tiled" along with the newly sculptured area and won't look as complete. Here's the difference:

See how the drop shadow is a smooth line along the bottom of the border, compared to the bottom pictured where it looks tiled right along with the blue?

clone brushSo, how do we fix this? From the menu choose, "Selections" and then "Select None". Now choose the new cool tool...the "Clone Brush". In the Tool Options Palette, set your Clone Brush to:

  • Shape: Vertical
  • Size: 11
  • Hardness: 100
  • Opacity: 100
  • Step: 1 Density: 100

Click the tab for "Clone Brush Options" in the Tool Palette and make sure the "Clone Mode" is set to "Aligned" with "No Paper Texture".

Place your "Clone Brush" in the center of the drop shadow only....like this:

Now, RIGHT click in the center, then move your cursor over to the right side of the image just to where the shadow starts to pixelate. Then LEFT click and drag to "clone" the rest of the shadow to match the center. Do the same for the left half of the shadow, but remember to RIGHT click in the center first since the brush is following in alignment. Your drop shadow lines will all now be matching (horizontally) as they should to give a smoother texture.
