DR I. B. COOL was looking very smooth, all we needed to do now was add the final touches.

First up we tweaked the levels to reduce the tonal range. We knew we wanted to export the image as a GIF with only a handful of colors so this 'loss of info' pointed us down the right road.

Next we desaturated the image, effectively turning it into a grey scale.

Finally we exported the image using Photoshop 5.5's excellent new 'Save for the Web' utility.

We used the web palette, wound the colors right down to six and used 80% diffusion dithering. Presenting DR. I. B. COOL...

When we set out to do a story on SuperGOO we never expected to create a new identity for the Club. Just goes to show you the value of kicking back and taking some time out to have fun!
