This is the fourth lesson in a series of tutorials intended for beginning to intermediate users of Adobe Photoshop. In the last
three lessons, we shaped all of the parts of the watch. In this lesson, we will be filling these shapes with textured surfaces. Our goal is to create Fig. 1.

For this part of the tutorial we need a tool available from Alien Skin, Eye Candy 4000. It is possible to
make the same effects without the filters, but the filters will save you a whole lot of time, and they will look better.
At the time this article was written Alien Skin offered a free beta of Eye Candy 4000. It has since been removed. If you do not have Eye Candy you can either purchase here or in the next tutorial we will describe how to get these effects using Photoshop.
The program will ask you for which host you want to install the plug-in. Select 'Photoshop 5.x', and it will copy the files over. You will need
to restart Photoshop before the filters will be installed.
To begin this tutorial we first delete all the layers we previously created.
Prior to doing this, it is a good idea to make a backup of your image, using the 'Save As' command in the 'File' menu. Delete the layers by selecting each layer
individually in the 'Layers' window. If the layers window isn't visible, go to the 'Window' menu and select 'Show Layers'. Then go to the 'Layer' menu and select 'Delete Layer' or
press the 'Delete' key. You will be able to delete all layers but one. If you end up with something on the last layer, just create a new blank layer and delete the other one with
the stuff on it. At this point we will no longer be using the guides, so you can turn those off by going to 'View' and selecting 'Hide Guides'.
Now that we have a blank canvas, we will start off by creating our bezel. Click on the 'Select' menu, choose 'Load
Selection' and pick the 'Bezel' selection from the 'Channel' dropdown box. Hit OK, and the bezel selection should now appear on the canvas. We now use one of the Eye
Candy filters from Alien Skin. Go to the 'Filter' menu, at the bottom of the menu select 'Eye Candy 4000 public beta', and then select 'Chrome' from the sub-menu that appears.
A new dialogue box will pop up on the screen. We will just be using the 'Basic' tab in the properties box. Make sure your settings are the same as shown in Fig. 2, and
click OK. You should now have a 3-D, blue tinted bezel.
