Why did you get on the web?
I'm one of those "old timers" who started off as an airbrush illustrator and designer but when I discovered the great design advantages available on computer, I was hooked. From there it was a natural step to web design and development. You know, instant gratification and no brushes to clean.

What services do you offer?
FM Multimedia, Inc. offers custom design, development and hosting. Our graphics ability is supplemented with IT services, which allows us to create much more than 'standard' web sites. We can handle integration of shopping carts, databases and a/v material. We also develop CD demonstrations and create traditional technical line illustrations as computer art. For more information on illustrations, please visit www.penlines.net.

What you like most about the web?
Companies spend thousands of dollars to put brochures on a potential client's desk. In many instances, a web site can get the message across better, faster and cheaper and that makes a good web site a perfect marketing and communication tool. I think the first thing people usually see about any company or organization is its web site. If its site is "comfortable" for the viewer in terms of appearance, navigation and content, it can be a real winner. It seems that every day someone raises the bar in terms of graphics and technology.

What you like least about the web?
The web is a wonderful place but it's loaded with predators. It's a shame that the sick and the twisted among us use it as a playground.

What for you is the most useful web technology?
Despite all the great new technology, e-mail still seems to have made the greatest impact.

Why do you use Fusion?
My background is in illustrations and graphic design rather than programming and so I needed a program that doesn't require a lot of hoops to be jumped through to get a site done. By giving designers a product that works, logical navigation tools, and (wonder of wonders) graphics that actually stay where they're put - NOF has nailed it. It's ability to gather graphics on publish and export templates is also a blessing. Throw in some coolmaps tools and I get to concentrate on design and marketing my client. All those tools make a designer competitive in terms of site development times and ultimately more profitable.

Your favorite web sites?
The sites that were my favorites yesterday will be different sites tomorrow. One of the first sites that I fell in love with was www.boeing.com and I still go there regularly because I love airplanes. To be able to work with photos and specs of the new airplanes must be the greatest job around. I can spend hours at www.coolhomepages.com too. Designers out there just keep raising the bar.

Do you think the web will change the world?
I think that the web has already changed the world, and will continue to do so for many, many years to come. Just think, ten years ago, how could small, independent companies work in the global marketplace. Or how could an enthusiast of Bonsai trees in Iowa talk to professionals in another state (or country) about their pasttime. And for free, no less. Sometimes it's simply astounding what is possible in this era of communication.

What do you do for fun?
Harleys and Highways.

Thanks Paul!
