Why
did you get on the web?
My web career started out of necessity. I lost my job at a private Weather
Service around the time my son was born. My family was in a situation where
his mother had a great job, so we decided that it made sense for me to stay
home with our son. I wanted to find something I could do that would give me
the flexibility of working from home, and that, combined with a curiosity
concerning the web forced me to become a student of the web. I picked up
every book I could find on web design. I still have my 'HTML For Dummies'
book. It was invaluable to me. To this day, I'm still totally self-taught.
What services do you offer?
Infinity is a true 'one stop shop' for everything a business needs to get
online. From flash and multimedia presentations, web design and hosting, to
web marketing, we do it all. We specialize in creating an online presence
for businesses that really works!
What
you like most about the web?
The ease in which you can gain knowledge. It's all out there, right at your
fingertips. All you have to do is look, and you can find the answer to
nearly any question. Another huge positive for me is the ability to learn
from other people and make connections with people that you'd never
otherwise meet. The web design community online is a vast pool of knowledge
and mostly everyone is willing to share that knowledge...
What
you like least about the web?
Pop up windows :-) Actually, one of the things I like least about the web
is the ease with which fraud and misrepresentation can take place. The 'bad
apples' out there make it that much tougher for reputable people and
businesses to earn customer trust.
What for you is the most useful web technology?
I think without a doubt, email is by far the most useful. Email has changed
how nearly everyone communicates in business and personally. The total
transformation in how we communicate is really amazing to me.
Why
do you use Fusion?
I use fusion primarily for speed. My line of work can be very demanding and
Infinity is a very customer-oriented business. We pride ourselves on
meeting deadlines and delivering a quality product, on time. Fusion helps
us meet our deadlines quicker than anything else out there. At Infinity, we
use all of the major web development tools, but Fusion is our tool of
choice.
Your
favorite web sites?
I'm a big fan of fark.com. It's my number one web destination when I need a break from developing. And of course, I have to say
infinitystudios.com (shameless plug). Also, I'm a moderator at
total-impact.com which is a great place for web research/community and
of course, I love www.coolmaps.com.
Do
you think the web will change the world?
I think it already has. The mere fact that I no longer need to go to the
mall for my Christmas shopping proves that. I do all of my shopping online,
saving me time and much aggrevation. Also, the fact that email keeps people
in touch much more readily than conventional means. I think that things are
only going to get better from here.
What
do you do for fun?
I don't normally have a lot of free time on my hands but when I do, I tend
to gravitate toward the couch. Watching hockey and football and playing
video games seems to take up a lot of my free time. I also play guitar
(albeit very poorly) and own a motorcycle that I enjoy taking out and riding
to the beach for some lobster on occasion.
