Why
did you get on the web?
I saw the potential for making money in web oriented services
as well as the boom in e-commerce sites. It was the place
to be. I started with playing games in the 80's to a company
offering web oriented business services in the 90's. Who knows
what will be next in the 21st century.
What services do you offer?
We offer web solutions for many of today’s business needs.
Of course there is the front-end creation of a website. As
well as helping a company create an identity that will make
it stand out against its competition. We do custom database
work on an as needed basis, as well as graphic and sound manipulation.
We are a full service company that can create and maintain
any web needs including e-commerce and database solutions
needed by companies that want to be on the cutting edge in
the 21st century. The only services we do not offer are hosting.
We feel it is better to concentrate on development of business
systems and let the storage be done with one of our approved
ISP vendors.
What
you like most about the web?
The chance to be in on the ground floor of what I believe
are endless possibilities to create and profit from a person’s
hard work and good ideas. Although I am not Al Gore and did
not create the web, I have seen so many changes since the
80's when it was mostly the academics domain to a place where
anyone can get information and services with a few key strokes.
I find that truly amazing.
What
you like least about the web?
Spam... Spam .. Spam.. and the lack of privacy that I
see out there.... oh yeah, let's not forget the computer virus -
LOL.
What for you is the most useful web technology?
Database collection and manipulation. What I mean is
that now with a few lines of code, I can collect data then
using xbase tools and the custom application software we create,
that data can be instantly applied to whatever needs the customer
has in real time. An example would be something like getting
records from 100's of locations real time and being able to assemble
that into a report that captures the information and correlates
it into usable data almost instantly 24 hours a day.
Why
do you use Fusion?
I like that I can create my own templates easily and
that saves me time. I like the what you see is what you get
feeling it gives me. But it also allows me to put up custom
cgi's and scripts as well as html as needed. Then add quality
prewritten add-ons from Coolmaps that you drop in and go.
This all saves time and increases quality. I coded html for
many years and the cut and paste that I did was just time
consuming. I feel that with NetObjects Fusion I can create
a professional looking product with the ability to customize
it to each customer’s needs quickly and consistently. I must
admit that I like it also because it helps keep me organized
and allows me visually to keep track of things I used to do
with lists of text.. Time is money and it saves me time. It
also helps to be consistent from page to page. This adds to
the overall quality of the site. Speed is nothing if the site
quality diminishes. This way I feel I have the best of all
worlds.
Your
favorite web sites?
www.mp3.com/normalguiseband I
love music and this is one of my favorite sites.
dow.dilkie.com
This is a hobby site that uses many of the coolmaps tools.
I have been involved with the DoW (dogz of war) for many years
and it's a great place to try out the new components as I get
them from coolmaps.
www6.tomshardware.com Don't
forget the "6". It's a bit unusual but it's a great place to get
computer hardware specs and help.
www.tucows.com Need
software.. it’s there.
There are so many but these four are the ones I find the most
useful and fun.
Do
you think the web will change the world?
Of course. It already has.. instant access to data, people
and it is going to continue to grow. In 10 years 80% of the
world will be connected. Life is never going to be the same.
What
do you do for fun?
I like to play flight simulators, shooters and other
games. There is nothing like blowing up a bad guy when 4 hours
of code doesn't work and you need a release.
Thanks Paul.
