Name:
Robbie Bogue
Web address: http://www.marketingexcellence.com

Why
did you get on the web?
I have run a sales and marketing consultancy for nearly 14
years. We work with entrepreneurial companies with sales between
$1mm and $20mm to help them build revenue and distribution
channels. I started using the web for market research going
back about five years or so. One of our clients asked us to
help them "do something" with the Internet. We stumbled through
the project and within three months, recognized the sales
potential of the Internet. We decided then and there to climb
on and ride.
What services to do offer?
We offer consulting in revenue enhancement. Services range
from the strategic stuff down to rolling up our sleeves and
making sales calls on behalf of clients. We recruit, hire,
train and motivate sales forces and fix those sales forces
that are not meeting their objectives. But we are rapidly
becoming e-marketers. We create and manage web sites for middle
market companies, and we manage their electronic distribution
channels. We have 58 sites.
What
do you like most about the web?
The shear power. It is an opportunity to take niche markets
nationally, and to configure professional firms to capitalize
on the due diligence that takes place when a company needs
to hire an outside professional.
What
do you like least about the web?
The size. It is getting harder and harder to get clients in
the top 10 of the search engines, and we are spending much
more time at it.
What
for you is the most useful web technology?
Our friends! We tell clients we are not computer "geeks."
We are barely adequate in graphic design. And we certainly
are not programmers. We are first and foremost, marketers
and marketeers. So when we need to do something creative,
we turn to our friends, such as the folks at coolmaps to help
with design and execution.

This site for Sevylor is a testimony to remote
collaboration. coolmaps used RollOver on the home page and TextTree
on the master border design, while Robbie and his staff loaded
all the pix and text, including actions that flip the images
to show front and back.
Why
do you use Fusion?
We started with Fusion version 2 when ver 2 was just being
released. We looked at Corel Web Suite and Frontpage, and
I read all of the magazine reviews. We are not particularly
MS fans, and Fusion got the best reviews at the time. We have
been there ever since.
Your
favorite web sites?
club.coolmaps.com
my best source for web technology.
marketingexcellence.com
the guy who runs this company is really cool
and
bitchin'.
suck.com
not what it sounds, but cutting social commentary
that changes daily.
windowsmedia.microsoft.com/radio/radio.asp
I'm getting into listening to the radio on PC.
I enjoy
the live gospel-jazz feeds from New Orleans.
www.parkers-place.net/eye/song.htm
brings out the Karaokie in me.
web-animator.com/html/linkexchange.html
a neat source for making animated banners.
us.imdb.com/
this is a movie review and database. I'm married
to an
actor -- what else can I say!
Do
you think the web will change the world?
Duh!!!!
What
do you do for fun?
Listen to jazz, produce jazz concerts and help foster kids
to learn about jazz. I'm working on a web project for jazz
education and as soon as it comes together, I'll let you
know.
Thank
you Robbie!
