What
do you like most about the web?
It's changing all the time, it's fun, and you don't have to
wait to get your work out. Bells and whistles aren't that
complicated to learn or implement [i.e. Coolmaps Components].
As a fan of color, the web is a great vehicle for experimenting.
What
do you like least about the web?
It's too fragmented, and the technology is parsing off in
the directions that make fundamental building blocks like
java tough to master...although it may be my age.
What
for you is the most useful web technology?
I'm not clear what web technology is anymore, but for me --
and the client -- the most useful is certainly the browser
and plug-ins.
Why
do you use Fusion?
It's a compact, tightly integrated program. Creation of pages
and tracking of sections are easy. It does most of the dirty
HTML stuff behind the scenes, which frees the designer to worry
about ideas, design and color.
I just put together a commerce site www.quietouch.com
using the icat system that Fusion recommends. Painfully simple
to setup...it's almost embarrasingly easy.
Your
favorite web sites?
I can't say I have a favorite site. I like them all. I'm intrigued
by the really off the wall sites that are visually interesting...most
of them are gaming sites or exploratory Shockwave sites that
are created by people with a bit too much time on their hands.
Check out www.nrg.be. It's
handsomely designed. Has great background music. Amazing visuals.
But, the downside is that there's no content beyond the hyperlinks.
I like Matt Drudge too www.drudgereport.com
...nothing to speak of in the way of design, few bells and
whistles, and crudely organized, but content is king, and
he's made a big dent with ideas only.
Will
the world go crazy on jan 01 00? ;-)
No, but what a great excuse for a Y2K party. Then we can worry
about Y3K. I'm sure the computer magazines will want a 1,000
year headstart.
Thank
you Steve!
